Viktor Ullmann was a Czech-Austrian composer, pianist, and conductor whose career combined modernist innovation with expressive depth. A student of Schoenberg, he created chamber, orchestral, and operatic works marked by lyricism and wit. Deported to Theresienstadt and later Auschwitz, he continued composing under persecution, until he was murdered, leaving a courageous and enduring musical legacy.
